Respect

Today I am going to be writing about respect. I think that respect is the most important thing in my life. People should work on giving respect, because I see nowadays that people don’t really care about others and they disrespect other people. For example, I see a lot of students who don’t respect teachers and not only teachers – sometimes they don’t respect anyone. In my opinion, I think it’s sad to see that people don’t respect anyone, because in reality they are not even respecting themselves. Some people ask themselves why people don’t respect them – well, maybe they should think why. I believe that respect is really powerful in many ways. Personally, I respect everybody, because I think that I would get the same respect back, but when I don’t get the same respect back, I’ll just stay away from those people, and that’s how I respect myself.

Admonish/Ferguson Police (Word History Project)

I chose an article called “Department Of Justice Admonishes Ferguson Police”, and it can be an example of racism also. This article is about police officers using bracelets that say “I am Darrin Wilson,” which is the name of a police officer who killed an African American teenager boy. People believe that Officer Wilson killed the boy because he was racist and now police officers are wearing bracelets that offend people. The Department of Justice admonishes the Ferguson police because Ferguson police officers were not using their name tags – they are using the “I am Darrin Wilson”bracelets instead and they are also making people mad.

In this article it says that the “Department Of Justice asks that officers not wear I am Darren Wilson bracelets.”

I think that the bracelets are dumb because it’s just making the police officers look racist and that they just want to cause anger in people. Officers are not showing their own names because they are using the bracelets instead of their name tags – are they really Darren Wilson?

My Reading Facts

One of the problems that I have in reading is that I do not like to read at all and also that I can’t find a good book . If the book is not interesting, I get easily distracted and I can’t be an active reader.

I like books about someone’s problems or experiences and stuff like that, because I guess I just like to learn from others people’s mistakes, I also like books about teenagers because teens make a lot of mistakes and I just try to learn from books.

I don’t really like to read because books are boring, but some books are actually interesting to read and what I like about books is the imagery. I like the way the books make me imagine scenes – it’s like watching a movie.

Books are not my life because I really suck at reading and I hate it, although I read a lot because I know I am not good at it. I read a lot so I can be better at it.

Sometimes when I read I get confused with the vocabulary or I read and then I forget what I just read, it’s just frustrating. It makes me want to burn the book.

My favorite book is “A Walk To Remember” by Nicholas Sparks; this book is about love. He is my favorite writer. I think his books are amazing, but A Walk to Remember is a book that you definitely want to read.

Two weeks ago, I was reading a really good book and I really liked it.   The book is called  “The Test” by Peggy Kern. This book is really intense and interesting at the same time. This book totally got my attention, because it’s about a girl who is telling some freshmen students how she got pregnant at the age of sixteen.
